Teaching
In the classroom, I prepare students to engage the relationship between moving images and the social world in US and western contexts. We approach images of gender and sexuality, race, class, and ability historically and with attention to the perspectives they take at the level of form; students consider how these representations contribute to ideas of nationality and regionality, to conceptions of social identity and progress. My goal is to teach my students to think critically and analytically about moving image media and how they envision US and Western society.
